Assists in supporting the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, and in particular UNESCOs Community Learning Centres (CLC), and Asia and Pacific Programme of Education for All (APPEAL),
which is a regional co-operative programme designed to promote literacy.

ASIAED Project Asia Education: The NGO, non-profit ASIAED assists in supporting the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Working with Regional CLCs
The main objective is to assess the existing status of Regional CLCs and also to examine their outcomes and impact. The results are expected to contribute to further improving CLCs’ operational strategies and to identifying ways for promoting institutionalization for sustaining CLCs within the framework of the EFA action plan.

UNESCO leads the global Education for All (EFA) movement, aiming to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.

In keeping with the objectives, the evaluation is meant to assess the CLCs’ place in the existing context. The intent is to highlight how effectively CLCs have been able to improve literacy and other human development skills.

In addition, the entire operational system of CLCs is analyzed, specifically with a focus on programme location, types of programmes, financial resources, nature and composition of beneficiaries, sponsors, and management system. The specific objectives are:

To assess CLCs’ standing with specific focus on their strengths, weaknesses and prospects.
To examine the management aspects of CLCs specifically with respect to expansion, sustainability, networking and linkages with other development agencies.
To share the initial results of the study at a regional forum in order to identify key issues and visualize effective strategies for future actions at the regional, national and even grassroots level.
